TRANSITION INISHOWEN INITIATIVE welcomes you to 3 film screenings looking at how we can make positive change towards living more sustainabliy.  We hope to respond to these changing times with supporting more in the locality while we move towards self-reliance.

The Transition Movement is growing fast in Ireland and the UK as well as USA, Australia and New Zealand. It is a grassroots initiative which began with permaculture students in Kinsale Co. Cork in 2005.  More info at www.transitiontowns.org

1. THE POWER OF COMMUNITY- "How Cuba Survived Peak Oil" -

Also an exhibition of a natural building technique using hemp and lime.

In the 1980s when the Soviet Union collapsed, Cuba lost most of its

oil imports overnight. We can learn much from the Cuban story about

how we will adapt to peak oil and gas.


2. The END of SUBURBIA  "Oil Depletion and the Collapse of the American Dream"

Winner of many awards, it sets out the case for peak oil in a clear,

understanding and sobering way. Also there'll be an opportunity to

discuss the issues raised in the film.

Followed by a talk by Dr John Barry Professor of Environmental

Politics and Sustainability at Queen's University, Belfast, and a
