In association with The Wicklow Transition Initiative, An Tairseach, The Cultivate Centre and Carraig Dulra, the Powerdown Course is coming to Wicklow. Powerdown was inspired by the International Transition Movement which started in Kinsale, but has now been given further impetus due to the challenges of the current economic context. The course helps participants to vision a positive future for Wicklow that is within our grasp.

Leaders: by example, anyone who is willing to engage in partipatory learning working towards the goal of sustainable living both in their own lives and within their communities.

Livelihoods: for participants and their communities will be look at in the context of creating and nurturing a lean local economy that is an inevitable outcome of peak oil and a pre-requisite for tackling climate change and resource depletion.

Building Resilient Communities: is key and recognizing that we currently lack the ability to withstand the shocks that are coming down the line, but we can become more self-reliant and resilient in terms of energy supply, food security, transportation and local economic activity.
