Aereco S.A. manufacturer 'intelligent' ventilation systems. The group employs more than 250 people worldwide and has a turnover of €30 million. Each year, around 1.7 million of its components are installed in more than 200,00 dwellings. Aereco Ltd was created in February 2008 to serve the Irish ventilation market and now distributes mainly Aereco products from its base in Little Island, County Cork.
The main difference compared to other ventilation companies is that Aeroco manufacture demand-controlled products which automatically adapt the airflows to the specific requirements in each room. As a consequence, their porducts reduce heat losses by 30 to 50%. Being the inventor of the humidity sensor in 1984, Aereco mainly use humidity sensitive terminals. Apart from mechanical and hybrid ventilation they also promote passive stack ventilation.
In the office they do the usual little steps; less printing, more recycling etc, also their electricity comes from Airtricity. Aereco state that with their ventilation products, the heat loss reduction generated by the fans and terminals greatly outweighs the carbon footprint of their manufacturing. A recent comparison between intermittent fans, standard MEV, humidity sensitive MEV and MVHR shows that the humidity sensitive MEV system had the lower CO2 emissions of all four.
